2022 Subaru BRZ

Subaru has introduced the second generation of the BRZ, with more power for 2022. The lightweight sports car, which has been around since 2012, will go on sale in early fall 2021.

The completely redesigned rear-drive-only coupe is more powerful than before with a 228-hp naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four-cylinder boxer engine under the hood with 184 lb-ft of torque. Both of which are increases over the last generation’s 2.0-liter boxer.

The BRZ will be offered in a Limited and Premium option. Its traction and stability system features five different settings, and the driver has the ability to fully deactivate the system for even more control. A limited-slip rear differential is standard and the Premium model has 17-inch wheels while the Limited has 18-inchers. Subaru says the coupe now has a lower center of gravity as well as an estimated curb weight of just under 2900 pounds and that it’s nearly perfectly distributed between the front and rear.

Though the same width as before, the car looks wider from the rear, which features two big chrome exhaust pipes and a ducktail spoiler.

Inside, the BRZ retains its driver-centric design and 2+2 seating configuration. Every BRZ features an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.  Apple CarPlay and  Android Auto are standard, and there is access to SiriusXM satellite radio.

Key safety features include: available forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, available lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, and available adaptive cruise control.
