There is a new kid in town — and we are impressed.
Hyundai introduced the new N line to the brand and created a powerful front-wheel drive sedan with the all-new 2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line. The new turbocharged Sonata is the first performance version of the brand’s popular mid-size sedan.
Behind its big blacked-out grille and aggressive styling, is a new turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four engine that pumps out 290 horsepower at 5800 rpm and an impressive 311 pound-feet of torque at just 1650 rpm. The transmission is an N 8-speed dual-wet-clutch automatic that was developed by the performance division with a tuning focus on fun rather than efficiency. With all of this power and torque, this Sonata accelerates to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds.
The Sonata N Line is a beast hiding in plain sight. You can spot the N Line by its larger 19-inch wheels, quad exhaust tips, a lip spoiler, and small N badges located on the front fenders and grille.
Inside, there are custom N sport seats with red stitching and nappa leather bolsters and suede inserts, a Bose Premium sound system, and panoramic sunroof. It has wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
There is a 10.3-inch center infotainment display that is responsive and easy to use. Hyundai also includes a 12.3-inch instrument cluster display with different themes for each drive mode. The climate control system utilizes nicely weighted knobs and hard buttons.
The Sonata N Line also includes Hyundai’s Digital Key as well as standard advanced safety technology that includes Blind Spot Collision Avoidance, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance, Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Follow Assist, and Safe Exit Warning.
